Benedictine Football Alumnus Makes History
WEB Football Alumnus Chris Tabor Named Interim Head Coach for Carolina Panthers
November 17, 2023
In a historic turn of events, Webster University (WEB) football alumnus Chris Tabor has been named the interim head coach for the Carolina Panthers. Tabor's appointment marks the first time a former WEB player has held the post in the NFL.
Tabor, who played defensive back for WEB from 1993-1997, has an extensive history in the NFL, having spent over a decade with the Panthers as a secondary coach, defensive coordinator, and assistant head coach. He was also the defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two seasons.
As the interim head coach for the Panthers, Tabor will oversee the team's remaining eight games of the 2023 season. The Panthers hold a 5-6 record as of November 17 and are currently in the Wild Card race.
Tabor's appointment is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and exceptional coaching abilities. The Benedictine College community is proud to see one of its own make such an impact in the NFL. We wish Chris all the best in his new role and look forward to following the Panthers' success under his leadership.
In addition to Tabor's appointment, the Benedictine College football program has also made strides both on and off the field.
For the second consecutive season, the team has been selected for the Musco Team Sportsmanship Award, which recognizes the program that most exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and respect for the game.
The Ravens also continue to lead the Heart South Division, with an impressive 9-0 record in conference play. With three games remaining in the regular season, the team has their sights set on a conference championship and a berth in the NAIA playoffs.
